Church of the Immaculate Conception

This was one of the more fun jobs. It included a complete removal of the old equipment, which consisted of about 15 CCTV cameras running over coax, 5 different models of APs that were daisy-chained, as well as miles of cables.

The church had been built not that long ago. Running everything was not that difficult, but since it was just me, it presented a few challenges, nothing I couldn't handle.

Day 1 was stripping the old cabling, cameras, and access points. Day 2 included mounting the access points and CCTV, including cabling back to the main office cupboard where the router + switch reside. The second day unfortunately ran longer than expected due to poor weather, but in the end, I managed to get everything mounted, configured, and documented for Rachel.

There were 4 access points in total and 5 cameras (that replaced 15). Brand new Ubiquiti Dream Machine, USW-16 PoE Switch. The new business line put in was a courtesy of Toob.

In the end, I really liked this job as it wasn't only a job — it was also an opportunity to give back to the community, as the people attending the main hall are able to stream movies to the main TV, share videos, and play music. Some of them don't have internet at home, and this is the only way to make contact with relatives.
